Bangladesh Urban Development Initiative - The project works on developing appropriate capacity for CARE Bangladesh to support co-ordinate programs to ensure both immediate needs and underlying causes of the urban poor are addressed in a sustainable way. The CUP (Coalition for Urban poor)/BURT (Bangladesh Urban Roundtable) is supported under the project to effectively engage with national policy makers to strengthen commitment and policies of the government to serve the urban poor, taking into consideration their immediate and long term needs and rights. The project is supported by CARE-UK.

Sanitation, Hygiene and Water Supply Program - This project aims to reduce mortality, morbidity and malnutrition due to water and excreta related diseases, especially among 600,000 un/under served poor women and children in urban slums in 19 Municipalities in Bangladesh. CARE Bangladesh implements the project with the partnership of Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Municipalities, local NGOs and UNICEF. The role of CARE Bangladesh is to support Municipalities and NGOs for proper management and implementation of the program through demand driven, bottom up and people's centered approaches. The project has also has a social development component, which covers gender mainstreaming, nutrition education, oral dehydration therapy, birth registration, adolescent reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.

Promoting Rights of the Disadvantaged by Preventing Violence Against Women (PROTIRODH) - The overall objective is to reduce violence against women and reinforce the fulfillment of women's rights in four unions (lowest administrative structure) in rural Dinajpur, and among sex workers in Dhaka , Khulna , and Tangail cities in Bangladesh . The specific objective of the action is to improve response to incidences of VAW (Violence Against Women) in the project area and to promote a more enabling environment for the fulfillment of women's (including sex workers) dignity and right to freedom from gender-based violence. The project participants are rural communities and women of all classes in four unions of rural Dinajpur.Female sex workers and their children and interest groups in the surrounding communities from stakeholders to policy level in Dhaka , Tangail and Khulna cities also include them.

Establishing Community Support System (ECSS) - The overall goal of the project is to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity through identifying and removing barriers, which lie between women and the EmOC (Emergency Obstetric Care) facilities. Flood Reduction Activities in Sunamganj (FRRAS) - The goal of the project is to reduce flood risk and thereby protect and improve livelihood opportunities of the vulnerable and poor communities in six-selected sub-districts of Sunamgonj district. The project assists in protecting agricultural crops from flash floods by making technical and financial assistance available at the affected communities to undertake structural and non-structural measures. It also facilitates to develop and put in place community-based systems and mechanisms involving Union Parishads to ensure regular maintenance and durability of submersible embankments and tree plantation activities.

Adolescent's Women's Reproductive and Sexual Health Initiative (ARSHI) - Supported by the European Commission (EC), aims to decrease maternal mortality and morbidity of adolescent girls and women in Sunamganj district (Northwest of Bangladesh ) in Sylhet division. CARE works to ensure safe motherhood and youth friendly services to empower women and youth with information and skills to support healthy practices, and to mobilize the community and the state to create a social and policy environment in support of the sexual and reproductive rights of women. The project works in 10 upazillas (Sub-district) of Sunamganj district with a specific target to improve sexual and reproductive health among 281,000 youth aged between 10 and 24 years, with a focus on 165,000 girls.

CEPZ Corporate Pilot Project (CCPP) - The CCPP Pilot Project works with the private sector to improve the lives of factory workers in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ). The project aims to improve lives of 15000 people in the CEPZ areas, mainly targeting workers and their families associated with YoungOne factories and other workers located at Navy Gate, Bandartila and Salt Gola in south Halishpur of Chittagong district. The project is supported by a private, USA based company-Timberland.

Local Governance Program - Local Governance Program, a joint initiative of CARE Bangladesh and Intercooperation (IC), works with local governance institutions, especially, Union Parishads, the lowest tier of local government, and the communities to promote inclusiveness, transparency and accountability in local governance. The program is being implemented in two separate districts namely, Rajshahi and Sunamgonj. It aims to facilitate reforms so that local governance becomes more responsible and responsive to the poor and marginalized communities including women. The local governance program builds the capacities of selected Union Parishad (UPs) on participatory planning and budgeting and designing and implementing pro-poor schemes, empower communities to raise their collective voice and facilitate partnerships between different local institutions and organizations.

HIV and AIDS Prevention Project (HAPP)– Drug Users Intervention – The goal of this program is to reduce the risk, spread and impact of HIV and AIDS among injecting drug users in Bangladesh . The project does this through a high quality, multi-sectoral, harm reduction intervention through drop –in centers, peer outreach using needle-syringe exchange program, detoxification (coupled with drug abstinence and rehabilitation), voluntary counseling and testing, sexually transmitted Infection (STI) management and treatment, abscess treatment, behavior change communication and advocacy with law enforcers and other government agencies. The programme is run in partnership with other NGOs and the national STD and AIDS program.

Strengthening Household Abilities for Responding to Development Opportunities (SHOUHARDO) - The goal of the SHOUHARDO project is to sustainably reduce chronic and transitory food insecurity of 400,000 vulnerable households in 18 districts of Bangladesh by 2009. The participants will be the poorest and most vulnerable households, and within them women and girls, living in the remote and difficult areas. Food Security for Sustainable Household Livelihoods (FoSHoL) - FoSHoL seeks to build the capacities of food insecure households in selected communities in the Barind Tract of northwest Bangladesh .
